Sowing and Reaping
If I heard it once, I heard it a thousand times – “Son, remember that if you
sow a thought you will reap a deed; and if you sow a deed you will reap a habit;
if you sow a habit you will reap a destiny.” My mom and dad said that to
me constantly. In fact, they said it so often that it finally set in. I
believe it. But this isn’t just good advice, it’s Biblical. In the book
of Galatians, the 6th chapter, Paul admonishes us that God is not mocked.
Sowing and reaping are the ways God does things too. God allows us to choose
our paths but reminds us that those choices have consequences.
The “sowing and reaping” principle applies everywhere. If we want to raise
good and Godly children, we must expose them to God’s’ word and God’s people on
a regular basis. If we want a healthy business, we must make sound and
foundational choices in the beginning. If we want a strong marriage, we need to
prioritize our spouse and find the time to build a lasting relationship. In
short, it’s unrealistic to assume that if you do it the way you’ve always done
it, you’ll get different results. God doesn’t play games with us on this – we
reap what we sow.
I wonder, what are the priorities in your life and what kind of seed are you
sowing? This is a good time to take inventory. It’s a great time to
clarify what you want your future to be and what it will take to get there. I
encourage you today to sit down, close your eyes, and think about what’s
important – not what’s urgent. Begin clarifying a vision of what you want your
priorities to look like in 10, 20 or more years from now. Ask God to guide you
in making wise choices about what’s most important. Remember, you reap
what you sow.
I’m praying and pulling for you.
